A member of staff at the Grozny branch of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Said-Khussein Deniyev, has been found in the Chechen Republic after going missing last Thursday, said Anastasia Isyuk, spokesperson for the Moscow office of the organization. (18-JAN-05)

“Late yesterday evening relatives of our colleague contacted us and said that he [Deniyev] had returned home. It was a great joy for us to hear the news that he had come back and is fine,” Isyuk said.

Isyuk refused to comment further on the circumstances in which Deniyev was found, though she said that the International Committee of the Red Cross had been in constant contact with the authorities and Deniyev´s family in an effort to locate him.

Deniyev went missing after he left the International Committee of the Red Cross office in the Leninsky district of Grozny in the company of two unidentified persons at about 4 P.M. Moscow time on January 13.
