the Russian Federation has called for an urgent meeting of the U.N. Security Council over the series of recent terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation. (01-SEP-04)
Over the past week, bomb blasts killed 90 people in two passenger aircraft and over 10 people on a busy Moscow street. Gunmen are currently holding up to 400 people, including at least 132 children in a school in Russia’s Caucasus.
The Security Council agreed to discuss the “threat to international peace and security” posed by the attacks, and likely would issue a statement at the meeting’s end condemning the attacks.
