The DSS375 team has added relevant examples to the book, telling about the tools that can help solve problems and ensure safe work in Belarus.

“The materials are directed to human rights defenders, but the audience can be much broader. After all, the problem of digital security is not narrow-purposed. Anyone who works with computers and networks can find some useful information”- the authors note in the introduction to the Guide.

The Guide includes two main parts: a booklet (“Hints and Tips”) and a practical guide (“Necessary programs”). The booklet introduces the topic of digital security. The practical guide part, in turn, describes the open source software for the information protection. The is an opportunity to learn each program and its features step by step, starting from the installation.

The Guide is divided into eight chapters, dedicated to different areas of digital security: protecting your computer from malicious software and hackers, creating secure passwords, protection of confidential information, etc. The information is presented based on the examples of the real situations from Belarus.
