“In our letters addressed to the Sejm committees and the Ministries we ask if the issues related to the surveillance of Polish nationals by the PRISM programme have been or will be discussed as part of the works undertaken by those institutions”, says Danuta Przywara, President of the HFHR.

The HFHR asked if any action had been taken to explain the concerns raised by the media reports and to guarantee an adequate level of protection for the fundamental rights of individuals in the context of their online communications.

“We inquired because the operation of PRISM may interfere enormously within the area of civil rights and liberties, especially in regard to the right to privacy enshrined in Article 47 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland”, the statements read.
