Maina Kiai visiting Azerbaijan
The mandate of Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association was established in October 2010 pursuant to the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution 15/21 of 6 October 2010. Maina Kiai was appointed Special Rapporteur in March 2011.
Within the scope of his mandate, Maina Kiai is invited for an academic visit to Azerbaijan to participate to this UPR conference following Azerbaijan’s Universal Periodic Review by the Human Rights Council on 30 April 2013. He will also be meeting various other stakeholders.
