The 60 x 40 x 0.6 cm slab that will be placed at a public view place has the full text of all the 30 articles of the Declaration. Over forty NGOs’ representatives within the Human Rights Network Uganda (HURINET-U) and the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC), who marked a weeklong commemorative activities of Human Rights in Uganda joined the French Embassy in the unveiling of this slab. Among the invited delegates were the Heads of Missions of the European Union accredited to Uganda.
The UDHR slab unveiled in Uganda
The Ambassador of France in the Republic of Uganda, Mr. René Forceville, placed a glass slab engraved with the full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on the wall of the French Embassy building on 10th December 2008. The Solemn unveiling of this slab, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, symbolises the making of the French Embassy a place of Human Rights, a symbolism will be done in all the French Diplomatic Missions abroad.
