The opposition bloc Azadlig (Freedom) does not recognize the results of the Parliamentary elections, held on the 6-th of November. Having in hands the hundreds facts of law violations on the election day, the opposition representatives stated to continue the struggle for fair and democratic election results. The leaders of Azadlig bloc called all the people, including independent candidates, whose rights had been violated, to join the efforts to make the struggle effective and fruitful (09-NOV-2005).
The head of Musavat Party expressed the belief that the long-lasting and sustainable struggle of the people would bring to the restoration of justice in Azerbaijan and ensure the conduct of free and fair lections. He noted that on the election day the headquarters of Azadlig had registered more than 21,000 facts about law violations and fraud from 113 districts of the republic. However he emphasized that the main fraud took place after 19:00 when the polling stations were closed to the counting process. Isa Gambar called the supporters to join the efforts for sustainable and non-violent protest, which could bring to the liquidation of election results in over 100 distrcists.
Sardar Jalaloglu
The secretary general of Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Sardar Jalaloglu, emphasized the numerous facts of victory of members of Azadlig bloc on the election day. He stated that the leader of ADP, Rasul Guliyev, won in the Khatai district # 36, according to ALL the protocols they could received from the polling stations. Sardar Jalaloglu noted that from 32 polling stations of district 36, Rasul Guliyev got the majority of votes in 20 polling stations and only in 7 polling stations the member of the ruling party Samad Seidov, who is currently declared a deputy of the parliament won. In other 5 polling stations, an independent candidate Adil Ismayilov got the majority of votes. Sardar Jalaloglu stated that it was just an example of the popular support, given to the representatives of Azaflig Bloc.
Ali Kerimli
The leader of Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, stated that they started legal democratic struggle for liquidation of the results in dozens of districts. Ali Kerimli emphasized the readiness of Azadlig bloc to make the constructive partnership with all the candidates, whose rights were broken during the pre-election campaign and on the election day. He stated that during last 12 years it was the 7-th falsified elections and noted that people were tired of the fraudulent elections. However, he called the citizens of Azerbaijan to continue resisting and show their political will, which would end up with the victory of Azerbaijani nation. “Our struggle is a struggle of values, the option to have or not to have them, to be or not to be a piece of EuroAtlantic community” mentioned Kerimli and called the international organizations and media representatives to support the democratic process in Azerbaijan.
Lala Shovket Haciyeva
The leader of Liberal Democratic Party, Lala Shovket Haciyeva, who is one of the candidates from the opposition who could gain a seat in the Parliament, raised her voice to the support of opposition anyway. She noted that on the election day the Azerbaijani nation, unlike the Azerbaijani government, demonstrated the readiness to democratic changes. She stated that there had been forming the democratic front in Azerbaijan which would be able to win if the people continued to support the democracy.
