The project was co-financed by Ministry for Environment Protection, Urban Development and Engineering  of Republic of Croatia, and with the professional support of Croatian chamber of architects and engineers.

The first lecture as held by Mirjana Dobranovic, the president of APEO Association and the president of HSUTI, she introduced the participants with rights and legislation for persons with disabilities, and as well with the life and issues of availability of buildings and other objects with which persons with disabilities face with in their everyday life.

Mrs. Monika Anne Klenovec, architect from Austria, has presented the legislation regarding availability of buildings in Austria, availability conditions during the building of such structures, standards and examples of availability, with focus on UN documents and future standards. Following was summary of all ten gatherings envisioned by the project, which happened in ten different cities in Croatia.

This round table was the closing event of the project and of education cycle for Croatian architects in those ten cities. As a result, an analysis was made due to collected conclusions, but as well an insight to implementation of international regulations and foreign practice regarding availability of buildings in Europe and worldwide.

The participants of the round table also stressed out that civil society should and needs to continue with its activism, but for that it will be needing the support of the state and support of professionals in order to achieve Croatia as state sensitive to the rights of people with disabilities, which is the main aim of the National strategy of equaling the opportunities for persons with disabilities from 2007. to 2015.

It was also pointed out, that the project “Availability – basic human right to movement”, must not be ended with this round table, but should address to investors and actors who were also responsible for respect of regulations regarding availability rights for all.

The issue of availability as basic human right to movement, for persons with disabilities in Republic of Croatia is still not regulated on that level which one civilized country should have. It is evident that the additional effort to act stronger and more active in that area, is to be taken.
