The “For Equal Possibilities”-project relates to the year 2003, declared the European Year for People With Special Needs. For every initiative throughout the year and throughout Europe, the intention has been to spread positive ideas on how to improve the status and living conditions of people with special needs.
To summarize the achieved results of the “For Equal Possibilities”-project, a conference was organised early October in Tuzla .The conference discussed the reality of the equal opportunities policy in education, employment, social and health insurance, and the people with special needs´ chance of living full, proper lives, with no barriers on status or activities.
Following the Madrid Declaration and other relevant international human rights standards, the attendees of the conference mapped out the fundamental directions of action for governments, parliaments and NGOs. In order to reach improved protection of the rights of people with special needs, a ll international organisations, national authorities and civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina were informed of the conference´s positive conclusions.
