Tomorrow, Wednesday 13 June, the Kurd leader Abdullah Öcalan´s lawyer Ömer Günes, right, will visit the Human Rights House. Günes is in Oslo to meet with specialists in the medical and legal professions, media and representatives of the Union of Trade Unions´ international department. To mark the occasion and draw attention to Öcalan´s plight, the Norwegian Council for the Rights of the Kurds (RKR) invites to an open meeting. (12-JUNE-07)

The meeting, which will commence at 5 pm in the conference room on the 1st floor of the Human Rights House, will be hosted by board members of the RKR Knut Kjeldstadli and Lars Gule. Günes will inform the audience about the relevant Turkish legislation in this case and elaborate on the relationship between political reforms and the difficulties of implementing new laws. He wil also share details of Öcalan´s serving conditions and discuss the suspicions that the Kurd leader is being subjected to poisoning in prison. The meeting, which will mainly be conducted in Norwegian, but with translation available, will also allow for questions and debate.
