On 27 September they had two meetings at the press centre of the Human Rights House Azerbaijan. First they had a meeting with the partner organizations that closely co-operate with and support the Human Rights House Azerbaijan. The representatives of the partner organizations briefed the guests on the activities their respective organizations are involved in. Afterwards, general human rights situation in Azerbaijan was discussed.
Then the meeting was joined by the representatives of the organizations that are members of the South Caucasus Network for Human Rights Defenders. The meeting was also attended by HE Mr John Ramberg, Ambassador of Norway to Azerbaijan. At the meeting the participants talked about the aim and activities of the Network, its future plans.
Ragsana Mammadova, Co-ordinating Manager of the Human Rights House Azerbaijan briefed the participants on the activities of the House since its official launch in April 2009 and planned future activities and events.
Florian Irminger informed the partner organizations on the third periodic report of Azerbaijan submitted to the UN Committee Against Torture. He encouraged the partner organizations to send their replies on the report to the Committee. The Committee will meet on 2 November 2009 where the replies to the report by the Government and by non-government organizations of Azerbaijan will be considered.
