“Through media campaign we want to secure public support for integration of peace education in school curricula and through specific advocacy activities such as meetings and presentations to relevant state institutions we want to raise awareness of decision makers on needs for mainstreaming peace building into school program as main measure for prevention of violence and conflicts among youth and in society in general”, says Lovorka Bacic, Education Program, team of Mlada MIRamiDA.
CMS already produced radio jingle and TV video clip, and plans to make at least 200 radio broadcasts, and at least 20 TV broadcast.
Media campaign “Peace in schools” targets general public firstly, and secondly institutions in charge for design of school curriculum (Ministry of Science, Education and Sports). In this way, CMS lobbies for adoption of peace education within formal schooling system.
“Peace in School” campaign is being realized within the CMS’ project “Youth and Peace-building”, financed by European Union, with aim to introduce peace and peace building into Croatian education system, through cooperation of research, government and civil society institutions. Specific objective of the project “Youth and Peace-building” is to mainstream peace-building policy in youth policy and educational policies in Croatia.
Partners of the campaign are: The Institute for Social Research, Documenta – Center for Dealing with the Past, and Croatian Youth Network.
