The president of the Board of the HRH Zagreb, Sanja Sarnavka, stated that the reconstruction of one quarter of the House is already finished, while the other parts will also soon be ready for the 6 organizations that stand together as the founders of the House to move in and work together.

Sarnavka also stressed how HRH Zagreb fully supports journalists that are currently on strike in Croatia, and that one of the key projects of the HRH Zagreb will certainly be protection of the freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

Representative of Government’s Office for Human Rights, Luka Madjeric, pointed out how the significance of the opening of the House, calling it a road that everybody should take, which is merging as more institutions as possible, in space and logistically, cooperate as tightly as possible and understand that such cooperation is not jeopardizing anyone’s integrity.

Speakers on the ceremony were Norwegian ambassador Terje Hauge and Executive Director of the Human Rights House Foundation, Maria Dahle. Candidate for the president of the Republic of Croatia, Vesna Pusic, also attended the opening of the HRH Zagreb stating how today, Human Rights House Zagreb is opened, but the ultimate aim is to let the whole of Croatia become a human rights house.

In Selska 112 A and C, HRH Zagreb is placed which building was donated by the city of Zagreb, while reconstruction of the House is financially supported by Norwegian government.

Six organizations founders of the HRH Zagreb are:  Association for Promotion of Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities – UPIM (APEO),  Association for Protection and Promotion of Mental Health “Svitanje“, Center for Peace Studies Zagreb, Civic Committee for Human Rights – GOLJP, Documenta – Centre for Dealing with the Past,  and Women’s Human Rights Group “Be active, be emancipated – B.a.B.e.”.
