A new course called Human Rights, intercultural understanding and conflict management will this Autumn be available at Høgskolen i Buskerud. Generally it draws upon the the Norwegian Helsinki Committee’s experience in human rights education and specifically upon the book “Bygg broer, ikke murer” meaning build bridges- not fences, that was published this spring. The course is the result of the cooperation between the Høgskolen i Buskerud and the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. It will be of great value to teachers, people who work with refugees and immigrants, people working in the NGO sector and young leaders who works on conscience awareness in general.

Both Enver Djuliman and Lillian Hjorth have organised and led human rights education for the Helsinki Committee in Norway, the Balkans, the Russian Federation and Belarus. Their target groups have been youngsters, teachers, journalists and employees in the public sector. The book “Bygg broer, ikke murer” was published this spring. In addition to general introductions to the themes it contains 97 different tasks focusing on human rights, intercultural understanding and conflict management.
