The Society for Humanitarian Researches produced a film “Nagorno Karabagh – consulting with the society”. The film is based on the questions and answers of political scientists and representatives of NGO-s, participating in the peacemaking process related to the issue of Nagorno Karabagh. It is planned to translate the film to Russian, English and German languages. The first presentation of the film will be held in Turkey and Germany.(08-MAY-08)

The SHR, established in 1997, is a non-governmental organization engaged in monitoring human rights situation, situation with migration problems, and programs related with conflicts resolution. The first work of the SHR on conflict resolution was the publication of the book “Discussing Karabagh” in 2006.

The second work, the film, discusses the issues concerning both parties involved in the conflict, the results, achieved by the Azerbaijani side during the negotiations, the role of international mediators, participation of the society in conflict resolution, war possibilities and its possible consequences.

The film reflects the attitudes and views of Mubariz Akhmedoglu, the head of Center of Political Innovations and Technologies; political scientists Ilgar Mamedov and Rasim Musabekov; Rauf Rajabov, the head of Information Analytical Center “The Third View”; Arzu Abdullayeva, co-chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly and chairman of Azerbaijan National Committee of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly; Elkhan Mekhtiyev, the director of the “Center Peace and Conflict Resolution” and Avaz Hasanov, head of the Society for Humanitarian Researches.

Avaz-HasanovThe scriptwriter of the film Avaz Hasanov (right) said: “This film shows the role and participation of civil society of Azerbaijan in the process of resolution of Karabagh conflict and it will become a very valuable resource, especially for international community and youth which is not well aware of the conflict”.

It is planned to translate the film to Russian, English and German languages. The first presentation of the film will be held in Turkey and Germany. The financial assistance of the project came from English organization “The Conciliation Resources” and technical support came from organization “Internews-Azerbaijan”.
