The Citizens’ Labor Rights Protection League launches the project “Creation of Civil Control Mechanisms in the Areas, affected by Oil Operations”. The pilot project is being implemented in Ranjber village of Hajigabul region, which is among the most oil operations-affected areas of Azerbaijan. The project aims at creating Civil Monitoring Group, consisting of representatives of local communities, which will pass special training courses by CLRPL. (28-APR-07)

Funded by OSI-AF, the project will be implemented for 10 months. The population of the targeted Ranjber village experiences the violation of their property rights and the affect of the oil operations (the BTC pipeline, Southern Caucasian pipeline, pipeline of Hajigabul gas-compressor station, etc) on the village is obviously visible.
Meeting
On the 25-th of April, the project staff members: Sahib Mamedov (chief of CLRPL and project coordinator), Irada Javadova and Hemid Khalilov (project experts) paid the introductory visit to the village, where they had preparatory meeting with the representatives of local communities.
Objectives
There is planned a series of events – training, monitoring, campaigns targeed at revealing and addressing the local problems by the representatives of local communities within the Civil Monitoring Mechanisms initiative. The project is piloted on one village for analyzing the project results, achievements, errors and work out the MODEL of Civil Control Mechanism applicable for other pipeline-affected areas.
