Students of European Humanities University, representatives of Belarusian NGOs, students and activists from Sweden participate in the course. The theoretical part is led by Professor Frank Aarebrot of Bergen University, lecturers of the EHU political science department Tatsiana Chulitskaya and Aliaksandr Lahvinec (on photo), and also by a chairperson of Belarusian Helsinki Committee Aleh Hulak.

Besides lectures the course organisers are planning trainings and working seminars as well as a special meeting with a professional observer Lina Mogenytė from Lithuania to share her experience observing elections in various countries of the world.

Upon completion of the course participants will be able to receive hands on experience as accredited international observers on 17 January during the presidential election in Ukraine.

The Election Observation: Theory and Practice project is jointly implemented by United Centre of Initiatives for Belarus (JuBIC), European Humanities University (EHU), Swedish International Liberal Centre (Silc), and Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius.  

Other observation missions of the project involve Norway (2007 and 2009), Georgia (2008), and Lithuania (2008 and 2009).
