On 18 December the injured people gave explanation in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Internal Affairs Ministry. The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety correspondent in Nakhchivan was told this by Ilgar Nasibov.

“Both of us gave explanation regarding the incident,” said Ilgar Nasibov. “We were told that the lawsuit was accepted for consideration, and an investigation into the case is being conducted. They said that the defense side will be interrogated regarding the incident”.

Ilgar Nasibov expressed his opinion regarding the information disseminated by the Permanent Delegation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Baku. “This information is nonsense,” said Nasibov. “Similar statements were made before. Disseminating of such information before the case is investigated is aimed at covering up their own actions.”

On 15 December, in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Democracy and NGO Development Resource Centre employees were beaten by a group of Nakhchivan State University students and teachers. This happened while Nasibov and Eyvazov were conducting surveys among students and teachers within the framework of the project “Fight against Corruption- the application of anti-corruption mechanisms in the high schools of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic,” a project supported by the Norwegian Embassy and technical support of Euro-Asia Corporation Fund. Consequently, employees Ilgar Nasibov and Vefadar Eyvazov sustained serious bodily injuries.
