CMS’s questionnaire asks questions regarding the situation, status and security of human rights defenders in the Republic of Croatia.  Answers to the questions will provide insight in the frequency, concentration and nature of violent cases against activists, particularly on the local level.

Triggering CMS’s action is the case of Andrea Gregorin, president of the Cres and Losinj branch of Eko Kvarner, who in recent years has suffered numerous acts of harassment and intimidation. On 26 March, unknown perpetrators damaged all four tyres on her car and flooded her apartment by pouring huge amounts of water down the chimney of her house. Andrea Gregorin is involved in uncovering illegal building and illegal mining in illegal pits in Cres and Losinj. So far, none of the cases Gregorin has reported have been resolved.

If you have any information regarding such cases, please send an email to zastitimo.lokalni.aktivizam@gmail.com.  Also, please feel free to distribute the questionnaire attached to this article, to anyone who would know anything about similar cases in the Republic of Croatia. After the collection of information, the intention is to highlight the problem, give support to local organizations and activists and organize a round table and other adequate activities, everything in cooperation with local NGOs and institutions.
