Having people with disabilities included in the world of labor, is one of the basic conditions for their social inclusion and financial independence. However, this issue is not sufficiently recognized, not only by public, but by employers as well, who are the key actors in employing this category of Croatian citizens.

According to the statistics of the Croatian State Council in 2001, there were  429.421 persons with disabilities in the Republic of Croatia (around 10% of total inhabitants of Croatia) and in the end of 2009, only 6.000 of them were registered in the Croatian Employment Bureau.

“So we have taken the chance of this whole fuss about financial crisis, to make our clear point that to us the crisis is always. Therefore, we aim with this campaign to first, raise the awareness of the public, especially employers, regarding the people with disabilities issues and their right to work and second, to show to the people with disabilities that they are not alone in their efforts to realize this right”, says Mirjana Dobranovic, president of the UPIM (APEO).

Ljubljanska Avenue, Zagreb

Campaign is envisioned as one-year activity on media promotion of disability employment, via video clips, radio jingles, jumbo billboards, city lights and banners.

Astonishing volunteer work has been made in behalf of the people from BBDO marketing agency, Val production, IDM music and journalist from the Radio 101 whose voice was used for the jingle.

Greater expenses were covered by the USA Embassy, Swiss Embassy and Croatian Hydro-graphic Institute.

Publishing and setting up billboards would have certainly been a great expense for UPIM (APEO) Association, however the PRINT GRUPA, Maba Company and Zagreb Billboards have made it for them without fee.

These contributions speak greatly about the social responsibility and human support of the mentioned companies and people.
