The aim of the research was to determine to what measure and in what way, primary schools in Croatia teach about democracy and human rights, to what level Croatian primary educational system is in coherence with democratic principles and human rights values, and what type of topics do textbooks cover regarding to that issue.

Research results offer answers on questions such as: what kind of educational system does Croatia have, can it as such, be an answer to challenges that Croatian modern society is facing with (youth violence, intolerance toward certain groups, life in European environment etc.)

After the presentation, there was a public discussion in which many of the social actors took their participation: general secretary of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport, Mr. Zelimir Janjic, representatives of the Agency for Nurture and Education, independent experts, school employees, civil society organizations, prosecutor’s office, public and state institutions, international organizations and media.

Results of the research were presented by: Tomislav Reskovac, prof. Ivana Batarelo Kokic, prof. Vedrana Spajic Vrkas, prof. Benjamin Culig and mr. spec. Jagoda Novak.
