NGOs in B&H: Stop the hate speech!

Non-governmental organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina demand from the responsible institutions to immediately sanction the hate speech made last week by Drago Kalabic, the Chief of the Club of Representatives of SNSD (Party of Independent Social Democrats) in the House of Representatives, during the TV program “Posteno”.

Drago Kalabic has tried during the show to elaborate Bosniak genetic composition, suggesting that there is a genetic predisposition under which Bosniaks hate everything that belongs to “smaller B&H entity”.

This radical misuse of public space must be stopped immediately. NGOs in B&H remind that in the first half of ’90s, these kind of speeches have been used last time by war leaders of Republic of Srpska, including the war criminal Biljana Plavsic.

It is proved that this kind of speech has contributed to creation of the atmosphere that made possible and “natural” for hundreds of Bosnians and Herzegovinians to be killed.

NGOs from B&H also demand from SNSD political party, to publicly react against the statement of one of its members, and from Drago Kalabic it is expected to withdraw this insulting and agitating statement.

HRC56: Concerns related to freedom of expression in Serbia
