A one minute’s silence started the memorial ceremony, organised by Amnesty International, The Norwegian Helsinki Committee and the Human Rights House Foundation. Leaders and members of human rights organisations, Norwegian politicians and supporters gathered to pay their respect and speak out about the dangerous situation in the Russian Federation.

Ågot Valle, member of SV party and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Stortinget, John Peder Egenæs, Secretary General of Amnesty International Norge, Aage Borchgrevink, Advisor of The Norwegian Helsinki Committee, Niels Jacob Harbitz, Project Manager at the Human Rights House Foundation and Erna Solberg, Head of the Conservatives and Vice-President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Stortinget unanimously claimed that the Russian Federation is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation into these murders and also deeply regretted the fact that none of the people responsible for the numerous murders of human rights defenders and journalists in the Russian Federation have been brought to justice until the present day.
