A series of similar public consultations will be shortly held in Poland, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. These consultations are held within the framework of the European Commission’s short term measure "Support to the capacity building and networking of Belarusian NGOs and local authorities". Within this measure, the EC places a high emphasis on the promotion of Belarus in EU, on thematic and problem-oriented discussions and dialogue between practitioners and intellectuals both from the authorities and non-state actors; politicians and expert community from both Belarus and EU countries.
The meeting in Vilnius provided information about Belarus and its citizens, the current problems in the field of human rights and civil society development, special conditions for operating in Belarus, which are crucial for building new partnership relations between EU and Belarus. The consultations also provided information on the EC calls for proposals and existing and new analytical and information materials related to EU-Belarusian cooperation.
