In 1989, Human Rights House Oslo opened its doors for the first time. The idea was simple: a space for civil society to come together, share resources and expertise, and support each other through shared challenges. A home for #humanrights and those who defend them.
30 years later Human Rights House Oslo is home to six organisations working on a variety of human rights issues around the world, and the Human Rights House concept has expanded into a vibrant network of 16 Human Rights Houses across 11 countries.Â

As we at Human Rights House Foundation look to the next 30 years, we are confident that no matter what challenges lie ahead, the Human Rights House concept is just as important today as it was in 1989, and that the network of Human Rights Houses will rise to meet any challenge.Â
We would also like to thank everyone who has supported Human Rights House Foundation and the network of Human Rights Houses over the years including our present-day donors: Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic, the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and the Nordic Council.
