“Looking back, homewards” marks the 45th anniversary of the exodus from Tibet of Dalai Lama and 100.000 other Tibetans, ten years after China´s annexation of the country. The exhibition provides its audiences with a broad view into both old and new Tibetan history. It is organised as a journey through Tibet, during which eleven exiled Tibetans tell their individual stories. Through these stories, the whole history of Tibet also gets told. The aim and ambition of the exhibition is to raise the general public´s awareness of the situation in Tibet, strengthen the world´s collective memory on this issue and generate hope for future political solutions.
In addition to this travelling exhibition, brought to Norway by the Norwegian Tibet Committee´s women´s forum, there will also be an exhibition of Tibetan children´s drawings, painting and other artefacts. The exhibition, which also includes song- and dance perfor-mances and screenings of the video “Rights and Wrongs” documenting the demonstrations for freedom in the late 80s, lead by Tibetan nuns and monks, will be open to the public only until Wednesday the 11th of February, and is supported by, among others, the Norwegian chapter of Students for Free Tibet and SOS barnebyer / SOS children´s villages.
