In December 2002 the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR) organized an international human rights film festival. Now, films from the repertoire of this festival are making their way around Poland in a travelling film festival which has been most successful. (23 April, 2003)

The original international festival entitled “Human Rights in Film” was organized by HFHR and Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in the period December 6 – 8, 2002.

More information about this Festival is available on the festival’s website. A news story about the plans to organize the Festival was also published on www.humanrightshouse.org in July that year.

Now a broader Polish public can see films from the festival because of the Human Rights in Film Travelling Film Festival:

The first Human Rights in Film Travelling Film Festival took place in Lublin, 18-20 February, at the Marie Curie Sklodowska University´s Chatka Zaka. It was organized by:

  • Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights
  • The Human Rights Institute of UMCS,
  • Academic Cultural Center Chatka Zaka,
  • Amnesty International

Torun´s Mikolaj Kopernik University was the host of the second Travelling Film Festival that took place at the university club “Od Nowa” April 14-15.

The Toruñ festival was organized by HFHR and the UMK´s Student Circle for International Relations.

Both festivals were successful: Attendance was high, discussions were lively, and in the case of Toruñ, the accompanying performances of Tibetan musicians, The Snow Lions, and Toruñ´s Teatr Wiczy were met with loud applause.
