Aliaksandr was sentenced to three years in prison, along with anarchists Ihar Alinevich i Mikalai Dziadok – two other defendants in the "the case of Belarus anarchists". "The case of Belarus anarchists" was initiated after the attack on the Russian Embassy in Minsk on 30 August, 2010, when a Molotov cocktail was thrown into a car parked in a parking lot near the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in Belarus. It was a kind of solidarity action with the Russian political prisoners, the protest against repressions in Russia. This very action led not to discharge of the activists in the neighboring country, but to the beginning of prosecution of the Belarusian anarchists. Aliaksandr was accused of arson of a number of government agencies, as well as hacking website of Novopolotsk city council. He did not admit his guilt during the trial .

The political prisoner was released on the morning on 3 September. The only thing he took from the prison was a bag with the letters.Frantskievich’s mother, a few friends and colleagues met him next to the prison premises.

After his release he will be under police supervision for 6 months. According to the activist’s mother, the prison administration had requested two years of supervision, but the judge gave only half-a-year term.

During his imprisonment, Aliaksandr Frantskievich was pressurized by the administration of the colony, several times he was offered to write a petition for clemency. Alexander admitted, that he was proposed to testify against anarchist Mikalai Dziadok: "If I testified at the stage of the investigation, I would be transferred to the status of witness, and I was told it directly. KGB wanted to have its agents of influence in the anarchist circles. After 3 September 2010 they were not interested to find out who had thrown Molotov cocktails at the Ministry of Defense. They were interested in general information about the anarchist movement, how many people were there and what were their aims."

Like other political prisoners, he was recognized as a violator of the inner regime, for what he was repeatedly placed in a punishment cell.

Political prisoner admitted that the most difficult during his imprisonment was to observe the events that took place in 2010-2011 outside the prison- including the terrorist attack on the subway and the disperse of silent protests. He says he will not stop his participation in the anarchist movement and tells why he did not write a clemency petition: "If a person has strong beliefs, it is difficult to break this person." Frantskevich is not planning to leave the country.
