The Norwegian Tibet Committee (NTC) and the Tibetan community of Norway demonstrated in front of the Chinese Embassy yesterday to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the Lhasa prising. The Embassy was angered, but all the fficials could do was close the Embassy and watch the demonstration from behind the curtains. (11-MAR-08)

More than one hundred Tibetans and friends of Tibet of other nationalities were gathered for the demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy. For the first time, the Tibetans were joined by Uighurs from the Xinjiang province, also ovccupied and deeply discriminated against by the People´s Republic of China. The demonstrations generated significant media interest. Chungdak Koren, Chairwoman of NTC, read a statement from His Holiness the Dalai Lama .
