“Establishment of the Human Rights House in Baku is a priority for 2007” was one of the conclusions of the annual meeting of HRHF in Zagreb, held in November 2006. Today, there has been held a meeting of the Core Group of the Human Rights House Baku, devoted to the results and conclusions of the annual meeting of the Human Rights House Foundation, held in last week of November 2006. The Human Rights House Baku was represented by two representatives – Saadat Benanyarly, on the right (the leader of Azerbaijan National Group for International Society for Human Rights) and Sahib Mamedov (the leader of the Citizens’ Labor Rights Protection League).
Urgency stressed
During the Core Group meeting the urgency of the establishment of the HRH in Baku was stressed in particular. Sahib Mamedov (on the right) and Saadat Benanyarly noted that during the annual meeting they had stressed the urgency of the full activity of the HRH and the issue was included into the priority list for HRH Foundation for 2007.
Temporary office
There were also held the discussion around the possibility of setting up a temporarily office of HRH in Baku until the establishment of the House. The difficulties dealt with this step are connected with the expected rise of prices to happen in Azerbaijan soon. Therefore, it was agreed to wait for a few month until the budget for the temporarily office and the established House are updated.
Finally, the coordinator of the HRH Baku -Shahla Ismailova – updated the Core Group about the ongoing stages of the registration process and the difficulties connected with it.
