Sara Rahimova is an Azerbaijani human rights defender and a board member of the Labour Desk Confederation of Trade Unions, working on women’s rights, workers’ rights, and environmental rights. Rahimova was selected to be portrayed in the fourth edition of the “Portraits of Strength” photography series by Human Rights House Azerbaijan.

Zhenya Mayilyan is a human rights defender from Armenia. She is the Chairperson of Real, World Real People NGO and the Chairperson of the Board of Human Rights House Yerevan. Since 2017, Mayilyan has worked on stronger human rights protection in her country, with a particular focus on the right to health.

From 1 March 2026, Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) joins 23 Norwegian NGOs which will receive funding from the Norwegian Postcode Lottery (Postkodelotteriet). In August, HRHF received our first ever cheque for 1,7 million NOK.

At the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Human Rights House Foundation drew attention to new reporting by Crimean Process, Human Rights House Crimea and the Educational Human Rights House Chernihiv documenting a coordinated pattern of abduction, incommunicado detention and torture in occupied Crimea. HRHF also highlighted the situation for unlawfully detained civilians including Bohdan Ziza.

At the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Human Rights House Foundation and Human Rights House Tbilisi urged Georgia to repeal restrictive legislation, end attacks against civil society actors, and called for accountability for human rights violations, and for the release of political prisoners.

At the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Human Rights House Foundation warned that Belarus is intensifying its assault on cultural rights by criminalising independent culture, targeting the Belarusian language, and imprisoning writers, journalists, and human rights defenders. HRHF renewed calls for the release of political prisoners in the country including journalists Andrei Aliaksandrau and Igaar Ilyash.
