The Norwegian Tibet Committee

The Norwegian Tibet Committee is one of the largest and most active Tibet support groups in Europe with more than 1500 members. It was founded in 1989, and the group received a natural boost when the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize the same year.

Objectives:

  • to encourage Norwegian politicians and the Norwegian government to support the right of self-determination of the Tibetan people
  • to provide and disseminate information about the situation in Tibet
  • to increase awareness of the rich culture of Tibet
