Human Rights House Skopje
Human Rights House Macedonia – Skopje (HRHM), was founded in 2006 by five organizations internationally recognized human rights defenders.
The House is set up in Skopje wherefrom provides services for human rights activists and organizations for strengthening human rights society in Macedonia and abroad. It is founded on principles of equality and democratic participation. It is an effort to develop civil society in the country. It helps strengthening the scope and capacity of civil organisations in the society as a whole by gathering many activities in one place and making them more accessible to the public.
The mission of the “House” is to promote, represent, and care for human rights. Thereby, strengthening the role of civil society in the human rights area in the Republic of Macedonia advances the coordination of non-governmental organizations working in the human rights area, and their institutional sustainability.
The vision of the "House", is to become a national centre of human rights and a place where organisations as well as activists engaged in human rights in the country will gather and work together.
Global Activities of HRHM are focused on - Protection and development of human rights:
- Joining into common programmes;
- Promoting solidarity in the country and abroad;
- Developing a common resource centre;
- Free legal aid service;
- Raising the awareness for human rights issues;
- Research, analysis and publications;
- Promoting and organising events
