These schools are organized in co-operation with the local Helsinki Committees in Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo. The goal of this project is to develop the process of education relating to human rights, inter-ethnic understanding, non-violent conflict resolution and re-building of confidence within local organizations, and to develop educational personnel and educational material.

Due to great interest of school enrolees, local Helsinki Committees set up Youth Groups. In this way, the willing enrolees are given a chance to engage in activities and to take on a pro-active role in changing their societies. Each group is working on it´s own project. The dynamics of the project are initiated by the unsatisfactory state of the regional societies, topics dealt with at the schools and recognition of their importance, and finally the possibility to impact the reality by direct engagement through Youth Groups.

The main tasks of Regional Co-ordinator for Youth Groups of West Balkan are to work on realization of regional projects, to co-ordinate the work and cooperation between Youth Groups and gathering their projects and reports.
