Real World, Real People was founded in Armenia in 2003. The organisation’s mission is to increase the quality of life of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and their families, to strengthen the idea of self- and mutual help within the community, to unite the community by providing direct psychological, social and legal services as well as to advocate for universal access to HIV/AIDS treatment, care, support and testing. The main goal of Real World Real People is to improve all elements of the quality of life of PLHIV. The organisation’s main direction of work has not changed for eight years, but the scope of issues and activities has widened: In addition to protection of rights of PLHIV, the component of human rights protection of vulnerable groups toward HIV was added.

Real World, Real People has started to implement the “Legal clinic” project with “Public Information and Need of Knowledge” NGO since 2011. Within this project the rights of four target groups, namely HIV positive people, IDUs, CSW and LGBT were protected. There were applications in First Instance Court and in the European Court as well.

During its activities, the organisation cooperates both with governmental organisations and local NGOs, as well as with many international organisations.
